Google maps issue. Please help!

Thursday, October 23rd, 2008

I have a web application using google maps, specifically using infoWindows on google maps.

Whenever a user right-clicks inside the infowindow, firefox 3.0.3 on a MAC throws this error to firebug:

this.showContextMenu is not a function
http://localhost/2.12/js/ajax.js
Line 43

Now, I know this is not an ajax.js problem, and I have researched a similar problem a plugin developer had here: http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=708055

If you know what this error is, or how to fix it I would love to know, as it could cause problems for my users when the software deploys.

Thanks, in advance.

Im running Firefox 3.0b5

Friday, April 25th, 2008

I started and the first thing I noticed is that this is the first time more than 75% of my Firefox plugins did not work.

Oh well, right?  Wrong!  Firebug didn’t work!!!

What am I supposed to do? Go to the official firebug website and download the unstable release of 1.2. It seems to work alright, no real problems. I will update if I find anything crazy going on!

Now you Windows users can organize html code into a readable format without having to use a command line program.

Going here:

Led me to here:

Made all the difference in the world when looking at other people’s crappy html coding styles.

ctshryock - web developer by trade, cocoa developer by habit

Monday, March 10th, 2008

ctshryock is a co-worker of mine who has been diving right into cocoa devlepment and python even though primarily he develops in PHP at the office.

Some of the most recent, and very interesting posts he has made recently:

Parsing HTML with Python - To quote:

The class ImageURLS subclasses SGMLParser, which has all the functions declared. When it encounters a tag it calls the matching function. When it encounters plain text, it calls handle_data(self,text). urllib is the heavy lifter, we use that to go and fetch the contents of an given address.

Announcing the ShowTimes Beta -This post specifically discusses how ctshryock developed his piece of software, Showtimes, developed using cocoa. Showtimes is a Mac desktop application that will take in information about your location, and return theaters, movies, and movie times from around your area. If I had a Mac I would totally use it.
