A simple request…

Tuesday, March 11th, 2008

Note: This was written to a server hosting company. I will not say who it was.

I have had nothing but problems with the server loads since around the time I started putting sites on this server.

The other problem with this server is that it responds to pings, and tracert requests with a ‘decent’ response, so I know that it is the actual server and not the connections in between.

This is frustrating to me, because I am a developer that needs good response time in order to wow my clients. Without response time, they get frustrated and go somewhere else, despite what coding talents I may have. Would you buy a car that won’t start, even if it supposedly will get 200mpg and win at Le Mans? I don’t think so.

I have repeatedly discussed the possibility of moving all my stuff to another server with various techs who have told me that it is not all that much of a problem to switch all of my data to another machine.

Please look through my support requests, almost every problem that has occurred has garnered the response “Your server was under [insert word meaning 'a lot' here] load at the time of your problem”

I am now requesting, ok’ing, asking, and begging you to please move all of my sites to a new server.

Before you do so, I need to know what the possibilities of losing my files, databases, DNS records, etc are and what can be done to avoid these problems. If i need to pull a copy of everything before hand I will do so.

Once I have this information from you, and have had a chance to do any steps necessary to ensure my data is covered, backed up, etc. lets move this sucker.
